NARAN-HO Design, specialists in web design in and from Marbella, presenting this time the work and career of Margaret Calvert, from her beginnings as a student at Chelsea College of Art, where she trained in the field of illustration. Laying the foundations of her career, where she would be selected by Jock Kinneir to take part in the great project of developing and designing many of the UK’s traffic signs, an innovative and tremendously ambitious job.

This project earned them worldwide recognition, since it inspired many of the signs and styles that are still in force to this day. But her career has developed in other fields of design, creating several commercial typefaces (Calvert Brody, Transport or Railway.) Used in infographics and signs of the British railway, highways, airports and roads.

She has also had a long career at the Royal College of Art for almost 40 years where she was director of graphics from 1987 to 1991.

Highlights include her election as a Royal Designer for Industry in 2011 and receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the Royal College of Art in 2016, as well as an OBE for ‘Services to Typography and Road Safety’, and the Sir Misha Black Medal for ‘Distinguished Services to Education in Design’. She has also received an honorary degree from the University of Brighton and honors fellowships from the London University of the Arts and, more recently, Bournemouth University of the Arts.
